A Grade: Ausport Classic Semi-Final vs Brandon Park

Finals:
Semi Final

In a tight game, Falcons defeated Brandon Park 2-0 to advance to the Grand Final of the Ausport Classic.

Sharni held the strong Brandon Park hitters quiet scattering 5 hits across 5 innings. Again she did not concede a walk, providing the platform for Ilsa to close out the game with two innings of solid relief.

Shelley got the scoring going with a solo blast in the 4th inning, and was well supported with the bat by Amy (one hit), Hutchy (one hit and scored once) Laura (one hit and an RBI) and Kellie (one hit).

A Grade: Ausport Classic Grand Final vs Eastern Raiders

Finals:
Grand Final

What can you say about this Falcons team? What a talented bunch of players who just mix together so well to achieve great things.

After 4 weekends of games, travel all over the place to play all teams (including the Japanese) included in the draw, and the Falcons girls totally trusted each other and their ability to triumph over Raiders 6-2 in the Ausport Grand Final, and it was a showpiece game in which everyone involved can be proud of the high standard of softball played.

A Grade: Round 14 vs Glen Eira

Falcons "WOW" 17 - 0.

When you get going with the bat the way Falcons took off today, all you have to do is encourage the next hitter and wind runners in to the home plate to score.

This was an outstanding performance by the Falcons offence which is not meant to take away from the defensive effort… it's just that there was not that much to do.

A Grade: Round 19 vs Glen Eira

Falcons "win ugly" 7 - 6.

After a flat start, the game really came alive in the 6th innings with a number of exciting things happening, most of which are best left to the confines of diamond 1 at Jells Park.

Falcons cruised through the first 5 innings with a 3 - 2 lead when the game exploded with 7 runs being scored in the 7th innings (4 by Glen Eira and 3 by Falcons) to send the game to extra innings.

A Grade: Round 13 vs Brandon Park

Falcons win 2 - 0 in a tight game.

In what has become a traditionally tight contest, Falcons overcame Brandon Park 2-0 in Saturday's A Grade encounter.

Led by a very strong performance by Ilsa Wakeling in the middle, Falcons were never really in any trouble. Throwing as hard as she has all year, Ilsa struck out 8 Brandon Park hitters, while conceding 3 scattered hits and 3 walks. It really was a commanding performance!

A Grade: Ausport Classic Round 4 vs Syndal (at Waverley)

Falcons stepped out tonight and completed one of the games we had to make up for the Ausport Classic.

In what was an entertaining game, Falcons ran out winners 6-3 on the back of another impressive performance by Sharni Arthur (and I will never get sick of saying that). I will also not get tired of saying that Sharni again refused to concede a walk across 7 innings, four strike outs, allowing 9 hits with Syndal scoring only one earned run.

A Grade: Ausport Classic vs Knox

On a beautiful Sunday morning, Falcons completed the preliminary rounds of the Ausport Classic with a very efficient 10-0 win over Knox.

Knox stayed with Falcons for the first couple of innings, managing to limit our scoring until we got away from them in the 3rd innings.

A Grade: Round 2 vs Raiders

Falcons long winning streak finally ends.

In absolutely atrocious conditions, Falcons long winning streak finally came to an end. Raiders made the most of their opportunities, winning a very good standard game (especially given the conditions) 3-1.

Sharni battled very well despite finding it difficult to grip the ball again not conceding a single walk over 6 innings, however, the three errors we made all resulted in Raiders runs being scored.

Sarah Hutchinson scored our only run for the night after getting on base with a clever running bunt.

A Grade: Ausport Classic Round 3 vs Japan U19

Falcons vs. Japan (U19 National Team) - Exhibition Game

In an entertaining and fun outing, Falcons provided the large number of spectators with a solid hit out against the touring Japanese U19 National team, finally succumbing 4 - 2 in the 8th innings.

Ilsa contained the Japanese hitters after their lead off banged a double to the left-centre fence in the first innings. Shelley Gwynne was on the money with a pick off at second when their lead off got a bit too far off the base to ensure there was no scoring opportunity.

Falcons vs. Melbourne (Ausport Classic)

Falcons kept the winning streak going in all competitions with a 4 - 0 win over Melbourne in the Ausport Classic on Sunday. Defence was the name of the game at Sunshine, with both pitchers holding the key for most of the game.
