The game opened with Raiders being very disciplined in the batters box, making Sam work really hard on the pitchers plate. Raiders scored four runs before Sam got us out of a tough spot with 2 strike outs in a row to end their turn at bat.
Our offence began with a marathon turn at bat from The Ierfoneater who faced 9 pitches, swinging and fouling off strikes in a very disciplined first turn at bat. She finally got one away with a beautiful piece to centerfield and was hit around the bases to score our first run for the game. We had an aggressive first innings with Stacey taking advantage on an overthrow from an attempted steal to 2nd and scoring our third run for the dig! There was also some top shots by Elysia, Stacey, Christine and Emily throughout the game.
We had a great second fielding dig with a tight defence and a brilliant play by Emily in right field who fielded the ball and made a put out at first to end the second innings. Abby and Stacey shared the duty behind the plate and we saw some great work from both of them.
Unfortunately, Raiders got around the bases a few more times than we did and scored 2 unanswered runs in the third innings to win by 2 in the end.
No worries girls, we'll come out firing Saturday! The game is against Glen Heights and I can tell we'll all be pumped to get back on a winning streak!
