Again this week, we showed that our potential is building, but we are still unfortunately having trouble getting everything to click together.
There was some good batting, with outfield shots coming from Stacey, Emira, Sam and Emily. The only problem was that these good hits were scattered over 3 innings. Ashleigh also put down a good bunt to move Stacey into scoring position, which was our one run for the match.
In the field, Anita pitched a great game, giving up only 3 hits against some powerful batters and 2 walks, whilst racking up 6 strikeouts. She was assisted by Emily with some smart catching. Olivia also made a good heads up double play, taking the catch and then making the throw to Mel at 3rd to catch out an unaware runner.
Remember girls, it is only early in the season. We just need to make sure we switch on for Thursday's night match, and come out hard with everything we've got. I can see that we are on the verge of making a strong breakthrough, and look out to the team we are playing against at the time! Let's make it this week against Glen Waverley - just give it your all and focus on the job at hand.
Play of the Day
- I don't think I can go past Anita's pitching efforts. In two separate innings during the course of the match, Anita managed to strike out each of the first three batters she faced. A fair effort, I think!
