Well, what can you say? Despite posting the best record of any team during the regular season and early finals, Falcons were beaten in the Grand Final by a very committed Raiders team.
In a game that did not do justice to the 2005 Falcons, we just never got going.
Ilsa battled all day, but didn't dominate the way she has in past games. Our hitting never got going (one hit for the game, to Ilsa) and credit must be given to the opposition for the way we were shut down and out of this game.
There really is nothing left to say about this game specifically other than "Well played Raiders. You beat us and congratulations".
On a broader note, it is important to recognise the 2005 Falcons and to say thank you to you for your efforts. I have thoroughly enjoyed the year and the people within the team.
My special thanks go to the players… every one of you and to Frank Borbiro for his amazing work with the coloured pencils. He not only provides great stats and game summaries, but he also has a feel for the game and will regularly provide me with a clever insight.
Girls, you are #1 in my eyes, no matter the score. You have always given me and your team mates your very best and that is all you can ever ask. We should remember the good things to come from this season. The lows should always be balanced by the highs and the reality is that we had many more highs than lows. We lost 5 games for the season. We scored heavily and we played great defence. I am very proud.
Now we go to our off season. For many you don't get too much of a breather so rest when you can. For others, the off season is a long rest.
Next season we will welcome Ralphy and Tutchy back after their time in the USA. I hope we will also welcome KJ back from a year off. It is important that we enjoy the time away from the game to ensure we love it when we come back to it.
Well done to everyone on a great season. Nothing to be down about this year… we were great and it took a perfect effort to beat us.
