Coaches' Guidelines
The following Guidelines are for Falcons Club Coaches. The Guidelines outline the responsibilities of the Coach. The committee supports the invaluable role the Coach plays and will endeavour to make the experience enjoyable and productive by providing the necessary information and assistance. The Guidelines are in place to ensure a positive experience for all involved with the Club.
Coaching Role
- Stay positive whether winning or losing
- Encourage participation of every player and trying different fielding positions
- Respect representative player commitments
- Be understanding of personal commitments
Duty of Care
- First Aid Kit should be stocked and checked before each game and training session
- All first aid incidents are to be recorded in a notepad in the kit
- Treat each injury with care and inform the Committee
- In case of serious injury (that you are unable to treat) remain calm and call for further assistance
- The Committee encourages and will support coaches who wish to undertake a first aid course
Fill in Players
- Players on the bench are part of the team and have a role to play - make sure this is well understood by all
- Game time is dependant on Coach's game plan
Parents
- Encourage parent involvement however Maintain your position as the Coach
- Be diplomatic and respectful in all discussions with parents
Umpires
- Accept and respect umpiring decisions
- Question umpiring decisions calmly - do not let one bad decision dictate the game
- Inform the Falcons Match Committee if there is an incident involving an umpire
- Commit to the Club umpiring policy - support your players!
Committee
- The Committee is there to support you and make sure your team can train and play each week
- Inform the Committee if you have any concerns with the coaching role
- If you are unable to fulfill your role to end of the season, inform the Committee as soon as possible
- If required, actively seek support from the Committee if there are any conflicts with parents or player commitments
