7 October 2006, Rnd 1: Sec. Div 2 (14) vs. Glen Heights (10)

The sparkling Div 2 team were back in action on a sunny Saturday morning. The reigning premiers started off slowly and were down 3-6 at the bottom of the second. The game quickly turned during our bat in the 3rd inning where the girls put 5 runs in the book and never looked back. Glen Heights put up a great fight and came back again in the top of the last inning but the girls showed strength in the field to shut them down with two strike outs and a beautiful catch in right field by Katie Hopkins. The girls then backed it up in the box firing in another six runs to seal the victory.

Our secret weapon from last year, Emily Papadimitriou, took a key role as pitcher and did us proud on the plate. The Ierfonator took fantastic catches in three out of the four innings not to mention turning a double play!

Not surprisingly Abby Burns had another stellar performance with consistent catching and 3 great turns at bat with a MASSIVE home run to score our first 2 runs of the game.

Overall a great win that showed determination and I look forward to another big year in Div 2!
